The Beach Nextdoor (Kahana Beach)
When we're on the Island, we practically live at this beach. You can get there by taking the stairs at the north end of the oceanfront lawn or by strolling two properties north and following the walking beach path. It's a super peaceful spot that not many people know about - a real hidden gem. Plus, you might even spot some turtles making their way onto the sand. Just remember to keep your distance - these little guys are federally protected, and you could get slapped with a hefty fine if you get too close. All in all, it's the perfect spot to kick back, relax, and soak up some sun.
Pohaku Park, (AKA S-Turns)
Pohaku Park, known as S-Turns, is a hidden gem nestled next to Kahan Beach Resort, It's approximately a 10-minute walk. With its breathtaking views of the azure ocean and rugged cliffs, this spot offers more than just your average beach experience. Surfers flock here for the consistent waves that break perfectly along the shoreline, catering to beginners and seasoned riders. The park's lush greenery provides a serene backdrop for picnics or simply soaking up the Hawaiian sun. Families can enjoy the calm waters for swimming and snorkeling. The restaurant is conveniently located right across the street from our condo. It's become a tradition for us to stop by on our first day in town. We love getting takeout and enjoying our dinner on the lanai while watching the stunning sunset. The food has never let us down - everything we've tried has been delicious. Even though the prices might be a bit higher than other places, the location makes it totally worth it.

For those who crave the convenience of McDonald's, fear not, as there is one located just around the corner, a short eight-minute walk. We have been known to take a stroll to indulge in their delicious soft-serve ice cream. However, if you're looking for a unique and tasty breakfast option, we highly recommend trying the McDonald's Local Hawaii Breakfast. This delectable dish features your choice of Portuguese sausage or SPAM, paired with eggs and rice. Surprisingly, it's quite delicious and definitely worth a try.

However, it is worth noting that the prices are a bit on the higher side, but this is typical for the west side of the island. One of our favorite dishes is the Poke, which is always in high demand and sells out quickly. As a local tip, we recommend placing your order in the morning to ensure availability and picking it up in the evening. Overall, Miso is a great option for a quick and tasty meal.
